10th ICSE Physics Board Exam Paper Analysis (2025)

The physics examination was structured into two sections: Section A and Section B. Based on students' feedback, Section A was considered more time-consuming and required logical thinking, while Section B was relatively easier to moderate in difficulty

. Overall, the paper was easier compared to the previous year, with a strong emphasis on conceptual understanding. Students who prepared well conceptually had a significant advantage and could easily score 75+ marks. The paper did not demand extensive written work, as many questions required one-word or one-sentence answers.

 Pattern of Questions

Section A (Q.1 to Q.3) Q.1)

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): 15 MCQs, each carrying 1 mark.

Out of 15, seven questions required formula application and calculations, while the rest were concept-based.

Q.2 (Short Answer Questions):

(i) 6 questions of 1 mark each.   (ii) & (iii) Each had 2 questions of 1 mark each.

Seven questions were fill-in-the-blanks format, directly testing conceptual knowledge.

The remaining questions required analysis of concepts.

Q.3 (Descriptive Questions): (i) to (v) - Each carried 2 marks, (vi) - 3 marks.

The majority of the questions tested knowledge and conceptual understanding.

One question was diagram-based. Two questions involved numerical problems.

Section B (Q.4 to Q.9)

Each question comprised three sub-questions, with marks distributed as 3M-3M-4M. Q.4: Focused on diagrams/construction, with one numerical question.

Q.5: Contained basic questions and one simple numerical problem.

Q.6: Included two numerical questions based on fundamental concepts and one logic-based question.

Q.7: Had one numerical question, one logic-based question, and one diagram-based question.

Q.8: Contained two numerical questions testing basic fundamentals and one logic-based question. Q.9: Included one numerical question, one conceptual question on fundamentals, and one diagram based question.

The overall difficulty level of the physics examination was easy to moderate, with a higher emphasis on conceptual understanding rather than complex calculations. Section A required more logical thinking and was perceived as time-consuming, while Section B was relatively straightforward.

The majority of the questions were conceptual, with limited written work needed. Students who focused on understanding concepts rather than rote memorization had a clear advantage and could score well. Compared to last year’s exam, this year's paper was significantly easier.
