MHT CET 2027 Is Now in December. Here Is What Every Class 11 Student in Maharashtra Needs to Do Right Now.

For over a decade, Class 11 students in Maharashtra could follow a straightforward plan — finish your syllabus by Class 12, prepare through the year, and appear for MHT CET in April or May. That plan no longer works for the 2025-27 batch. The Maharashtra CET Cell has announced that MHT CET 2027 Attempt 1 will be held between December 2026 and January 2027 — four months earlier than the traditional window.

This is not a minor scheduling adjustment. It fundamentally changes when students need to be ready. And since most Class 11 students in August are still learning their first-term chapters, this announcement has real implications for how the next 16 months should be approached.

What Changed — MHT CET 2027 Is Now in December and Why It Matters

The most immediate implication: Class 11 is no longer a foundation-only year. Students who planned to "get serious in Class 12" are now working with a significantly shorter runway. The December attempt effectively requires students to be comfortable with a substantial portion of both Class 11 and Class 12 PCM or PCB content by November 2026 — which is just three months away for the current Class 11 batch.

What Class 11 Students Should Do Differently Starting Now

The students who will benefit most from this change are the ones who adjust their approach in August and September — not in November when it is too late. Here is what that adjustment looks like practically.

1. Stop treating Class 11 chapters as "only for boards"

Every Class 11 chapter you study this month is also a CET chapter. Physics Mechanics, Chemistry Atomic Structure, Mathematics Algebra and Trigonometry — all appear in MHT CET. Study them once, deeply, with MCQ practice alongside. Do not plan to revisit them from scratch in Class 12.

2. Add chapter-wise MCQ practice from this month

MHT CET is an MCQ-based exam. The skill of reading a question and selecting the correct option in under 90 seconds is a skill — it takes months to build. Starting MCQ practice in August of Class 11 rather than January of Class 12 is a significant advantage.

3. Prioritise Class 12 chapters that carry high CET weightage

MHT CET 2027 will include Class 12 content. The chapters with the highest weightage — Organic Chemistry in PCB, Calculus and Integration in PCM, Electrostatics and Current Electricity in Physics — need to be covered earlier in Class 12 rather than later. Adjust your sequence accordingly.

4. Plan for both attempts

A December attempt and a second attempt after boards means students actually have two opportunities. The December attempt, even if not your best performance, will give you real exam experience — the most valuable preparation tool available. Do not skip the first attempt waiting to be "fully ready."
