What It Means for Students and Parents
Starting from the academic year 2025–26, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to implement a twice-a-year board exam pattern for Class 10 students. This major shift aims at reducing exam pressure and giving students more than one chance to perform at their best.
📌 What Is the New Pattern?
CBSE is now aligning its examination structure with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). As per this, Class 10 and Class 12 board exams may be conducted twice a year.
🟢 Students can appear for both exams, and their best score will be considered.
🟢 The goal is to give students another chance without feeling the burden of a “one-shot” exam.
🟢 Like JEE and CUET entrance exams, this gives room for improvement and reduces stress.
✅ Reduced Pressure: Students will not feel overwhelmed by a single high-stakes exam.
✅ Better Preparation: Knowing they have two attempts, students can plan their preparation more smartly.
✅ Improved Scores: The opportunity to reattempt helps students aim for a higher score without fear.
✅ Mental Well-being: Promotes a healthier learning environment and reduces anxiety.
🤔 Points to Keep in Mind
🔸 This doesn't mean that both exams are mandatory. Students can choose to appear once or both times.
🔸 The syllabus for each exam is expected to be the same, unless CBSE specifies otherwise.
🔸 Schools and teachers will need to plan their academic calendar accordingly, with proper timelines for syllabus completion, revision, and mock tests.
At Real Academy, we have always believed in preparing students not just for exams, but for life. With this new policy:
🔹 We will design our yearly plan keeping two exam windows in mind.
🔹 Students will receive continuous evaluation, paper practice, and doubt-solving sessions throughout the year.
🔹 Our expert faculty will guide students on how to balance preparation for both attempts without burnout.
This is a progressive move by CBSE that focuses on student growth, flexibility, and reducing academic stress. As educators and parents, our job is to help children adjust positively to this change and make the most of every opportunity given.
